Technology Integration

Technology integration into a classroom should be smooth and effective. Integration should not disrupt the student’s learning environment nor unnecessarily stress the teacher out. To make this transition effective and smooth there are guidelines that I created to make this transition. My first principal is to make sure I have the right educative technologies that could be integrated into the classroom such as laptops, desktops, tablets, projector and Smartboard. These devices are all student friendly no matter the age and can be used to their maximum to create a technology friendly classroom. My second principal is to install the correct programs like anti-virus software and firewalls to block the access to inappropriate material. The third principal is to complete a digital citizenship workshop as an educator and then complete it with my students. The digital citizenship course is given through a website called Netsmartz; this online workshop will educate my students on surfing through the internet in a safe and friendly manner. The fourth principal is to ensure that my students are up to par with the equipment they are using, meaning that they know how to navigate the devices in front of them. When the students can properly handle the devices then instructing them with technology integration will be a fun and educational diverse tool. The fifth principal is a factor that I would solely focus on as it includes lesson planning for the assignment. During this step, it would be my main responsibility to ensure that the material I integrate from the web will be educationally appropriate as well as age friendly. When it is time to lesson plan, it should always be remembered that technology integration should not dominate the lesson but balance between it smoothly. For the sixth principal, I will use the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices to evaluate that my resource and technology integration meets the standards. There are certain sections of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices that help educators acknowledge what resources are educational friendly. The seventh principal to help integrate technology into a classroom is to remember that students need various methods of instruction. Therefore, technology integration could be used to not only instruct students but, motivate them with educational games or means of rewarding.
